Microsoft 365 Copilot is being touted by Microsoft as a personal assistant that you didn’t even know you needed. It helps you navigate your daily tasks effortlessly allowing you to work smarter, not harder. And the best part? You don’t need to be an expert in coding or engineering to use it. The average lay person can pick it up easily!
Microsoft Digital created scenarios for how they envisioned end users interacting with Copilot. They came up with their top 10 out of over 100. They called their testing “Monday morning with Copilot”.
“We did over a month’s work of surveying different groups to find out what their daily top Copilot scenarios are,” says Cadie Kneip, a readiness business program manager on the Readiness team in Microsoft Digital. “Our extended team whittled them down to ten, from over 100. They had to be things you could use every single day.”
Below are their top 10 scenarios where Copilot comes in for the assist and the win!
#1: Draft email with Copilot in Outlook
Ever had an email that was particularly difficult to write? Maybe it’s letting a coworker know that they had errors in a report. Or it could be that there’s some friction about a subject, and you want some help in being diplomatic. Or maybe the recipient doesn’t have the know-how on a particular subject, and you’d like some help making it understandable to a general audience. Copilot can help you draft an email that has you covered.
#2: Catch up on long email threads in Outlook with Copilot
Ever had your boss add you to an email thread that has been going on for a long time and asks you to solve the problem? The information you need is buried somewhere in all those many emails back and forth. Simply open the thread and select the Summarize button. Copilot then provides a summary at the top of your email that saves you time from wading through the entire thread.
#3: Summarize your work week with Copilot
Rarely do you find yourself working on only one project at a time. It is easy to lose where you are and keep track of all the moving parts. Copilot shows you the past week of chats and emails, and you can easily see them in a table that includes whether you’ve responded.

#6: Get ready for your day with Copilot
This is the assistant you’ve been waiting for! Copilot summarizes things from the preceding day—emails, Teams messages, and meetings. The Microsoft Digital readiness team used this to come up with Camp Copilot, a three-week training program. For example, one of their Copilot campers used Copilot to write an email responding to a customer complaint, using the company guidelines for such responses. After refining Copilot’s draft email into the final version, they said the Copilot draft was 70-80% complete saving time and keeping to their company’s core values.
#9: Create presentations with Copilot in PowerPoint
